      英国最大的猎头公司Hays表示，该公司正进行自2008年以来的首次招聘，此举表明遭受重创的全球猎头行业形势已初见好转。

　　Business was strongest in Asia, where Hays plans to raise headcount by 5 to 10 per cent in the next six months. China has become the multinational’s fastest growing market, and Hays now generates 82 per cent of operating profits from outside the UK.

　　The shift in tone suggests that the worst may be over for the UK’s four biggest recruiters – Hays, Michael Page, Robert Walters and S3 – after a year in which they were forced to axe staff and close offices as a tide of job losses swept the world.

　　But in spite of the improvement in sentiment, pre-tax profits slumped 70 per cent from £100.8m to £30.4m in the six months to December 31 compared with the same period in 2008. Net fees fell from £383.7m to £264.8m with the temporary recruitment market continuing to prove more resilient.

　　With government figures in February showing the number of people claiming unemployment benefit at its highest since 1997, Britain remains a weak spot. Mr Cox said he remained more cautious about the UK, in spite of the increase in job churn in the City. “We’re certainly not out of the woods in Britain yet,” Mr Cox said. A small rise in private sector activity has been offset by a slowdown in the public sector, which had proved resilient during the recession.

　　With the government planning to axe state-funded jobs Hays said it would reallocate resources back to the private sector. Overall public sector net fees – which accounts for almost 40 per cent of its UK business – fell 13 per cent against the previous year. The public sector accounts for about a quarter of the fees Hays receives worldwide.

　　Concerns about the outlook for the UK business sent Hays share price tumbling. By midday they had fallen 9 per cent or 10p to 103.2p, the largest intra-day fall for nine months.
